The piece tells the story of a grandfather and a meadow - a meadow from which he was taken by Soviet soldiers at the age of ten and sent into exile.
The audience is gently addressed through a monologue that seeks to acknowledge the trauma inflicted by the Soviet Union regime on the people and places of Eastern Europe. The monologue seeks dialogue. With love it asks: Are we capable of feeling each other's pain?
Reviews
"Meadow" and "Cracks" - a moving choreographic exploration of trauma, memory, intergenerational pain.
TanzRaum Berlin Magazin
After “Cracks” seeing “Meadow” one comes to feel how experiencing landscapes of the country form us. How a childish jumping in the cold river and swinging on a swing seeking to reach the sky does later become a part of one’s language of love. One realizes that part of the search of “Cracks'' and trying to find one’s expression, one’s place in one’s environment, comes from this emptiness from the part of the history that was harshly taken away, where the continuation of life between the different generations was not allowed to take place <..> - a collective trauma.
